June to Dec 2008...See you all Next Year 2009!

Ho Ho Ho...Merry Xmas to one and all!!!

Its been a while since i last updated my blog...Well, its the end of the year and here i am penning down my thoughts and events before the year 2008 comes to an end...

Well, nothing much happens for this year except that last month, November, a major mishap happen to my wife, Amelia, which landed up in hospital for 3 weeks! what a close shave and she managed to recover well.

That day, I remembered it was on 13 Nov 2008. She went to my GP as she was not feeling well. She was then having fever, cough and running nose. The GP took her temperature and she was not having a fever. So, he just gave her some medicine. Well that night, 13 Nov, my wife was running a fever of 39.7 degrees. Wah Lau that was high!!! Her fever did not manage to subside after taking medication and she just slept through that night. The next day, she vomited and I was very worried. Called the ambulance and made our way to NUH.

During her one wk stay there, her temp was up and down and she was having severe headache and feeling giddy. Well, the doctors just prescribed with painkillers while testing for the virus that caused her to fall sick. I got to blame myself as I could not be there whole day to see her. I got a 3-year daughter with me and there is no caregiver. I was very sad and kept crying every nights as I worried about my wife's condition. Imagine, she would just shiver and shiver and there was no one with her. I was very very sad...on one hand, i had to look after my daughter and the other hand, i had to worry.........

Suddenly, about a wk later, she went into semi-coma and kept on sleeping. Her condition was real bad and I was shocked to see that. Crying and crying was all that i can do. That's my wife lying unconsciously on the bed. I was really worried for the worst case scenario. Shortly, she was sent to High Dependency Unit and she was still unconscious. That week, I had to bring my daughter to her holiday's program, which was signed up very early in Oct. Not to disappoint my daughter, I sent her there. During that period, i stayed at home and cried whenever I think of my wife. She was really unconscious. In the afternoon, her god ma took leave and helped to look after my daughter while I made my way to the hospital to see my wife. Visiting my wife was painful as she was not awake to see me. I talked to her while i was there and kept her company till the evenings, then I made my way home to cook for my daughter. That week was really tough as I had to struggle my emotions with my daughter who only knows that Mama is sick and in hospital. She does not know Mama is unconscious. I cried every night...

After a week of unconscious, my wife waked up. I quickly rushed to hospital and was very very happy to see her smile again. That moments was really nice and warmed my heart. I must owe my strong mind to my god ma, friends and colleagues who came and supported me. They offered their help one way or another!!! That's what true friends are for and that when I know who are really true friends.

Well, my wife has since recovered and she is back to her old self. So chubby and bubbly, her beautiful smile is always inked in my mind. Her tone and everything are always there. Mama, if you are reading this, I just want to say I love you.

So much so for my ordeal...

Xmas this year was a special celebration. We had a steamboat at my gd friend's house. His name is SF. It is house warming cum his daughter's 5th month celebration. As usual, our friend, SH proposed for an exchange gift of $19 as our friendship has been as long as 19 years. Everybody obliged.

It was indeed a good celebration and gathering as we managed to see two of our friends, JH and MH. We have not seen them for a few years....Took some photos and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Of course, my gd friend, SH, also enjoyed himself. Btw, tks to his wife who had prepared the food for us and also, their new born is so cute and bubbly...looks like SF..hee hee.

This year may not be smooth sailing but next year will be!! My family hereby wishes all readers of my blog a happy new year 2009 and may good health stays with you all! Cheers for a better new year. Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Last Sat (29 Mar), my wife, faustina and myself attended one of my gd friend's newborn party. We reached there ard 2 plus as we took a cab. Well, it was indeed an enjoyable event as we can see how my friend juggled with his newborn, by the way, his is a baby girl.

Reflecting on the day, the moments of handling my baby faustina was indeed an enjoyable period. She has grown from a small baby and now become a big girl. From not much talking to a lot of talking and something, her talking can be quite disturbing at times. Anyway, me and my wife enjoy her talking as we are pleased that she has outgrown herself. Continue my girl, you are the one!

I recalled a few weeks ago, my wife uttered something to me and made me ponder. She said that she does not have many friends and her friends are mainly associates whom they hardly call her. she is usually the one who will contact them. Unlike me, i have my own group, secondary and poly friends and even my colleagues to talk to. This is what she call friendship is. This statement makes me think....

To be frank, my friends are also like my wife's friends. We call when we need assistance. We hardly meet up as i am juggling my family and they do have their own life as well. I can only meet up a few as my mj kakis, maybe once every 2 months. In a way, they are still in my radar zone. But, i will take the extra effort to send them a msg when their birthdays are round the corner. That's a simple and warm gesture from me so that they will remember me.

I may have a lot of friends and colleagues. But who can i really depend upon when i am in trouble. I know that my wife will stand by me when there is a crisis. As for my close friends, I know some can help while some wish to help but within their means. Nevertheless, I appreciate their efforts and presence.

After reading this write up, I just want to make a point: The contacts with you all may be lesser but I will never forget you all. If I can be of help to you, please do not hesitate to call me. I value this true friendship with you all!

Cheers.

Gong Xi Fa Cai

Well, its a new CNY and the rat has arrived to our life to pave our smooth life ever. Allow me to wish my friends and readers a very happy new year and wan shi ru yi!!

For me, this is just another holiday to relax and catch up with my friends and family..Same as last yr, there is no dinner with my parents. I dun care about having this dinner with them and i am sure they are not so keen as well. My relationship with them has worsened over the years and i am sure not looking forward a patch up...Yah yah, u all will say.."afterall, they are your parents and blah blah blah"..My stand is still very clear.. They did me wrong!!! anyway, I had a gd dinner at my in-laws house also...nothing is missed out.

My gd friend (Sh) called me the other day and suggested a "lo hei" session on 9 Feb. What i am happy is they make flexible for the meeting time, just to suit my timing..More often than not, they are always making consideration for me and family and try to suit me, if possible. Thanks pal to you, if you are reading this.

The dinner is scheduled at (J) house. So far, response is quite gd and really to see all my friends, especially Des, who has been stationed overseas for the past yr or so. So, look out for more updates. Till then, cheers.

Faustina's School Assignments

Faustina has been lately very active and at times, disobedient as well. Well, I guess she is growing up and has learnt to be more self reliant and gaining independence for herself. Come to think of it, it's not bad at all....hmmm.

Lately, Faustina's pre school is giving out home assignments for the parents to submit. The first assignment is a draw up of Faustina's body outline with parts of her body indicating by paint or other materials....Wah lau..so difficult...I mean its difficult to get Faustina to lay down and outline her body...since my girl is always so curious like her daddy...Well, this project is still under WIP...

The next project is a hands on photo frame up of the Tan's family, as required by the school...This assignment looks a little easier than the previous one...anyway, it is still WIP..ha ha.

Year 2008 Beginning.....

First of all, allow me to wish you all, the readers, a happy new year 2008. Sorry for this late greetings as i have been busy with all the helpings for my kid's classes at a nearby education centre, and of course my work as well...Hey, i am a very responsible person, ok...

Faustina is currently doing her pre-nursery with KinderLand. It has been about 3 weeks and i am very happy that she is coping well. Though it is a little costly with Kinderland, I think it is worth it as this centre is highly recommended by friends and forums. One of my colleagues' child was formerly in this Centre and had rated highly for its services and teachers. The only regret is that I cant give Faustina enrichment classes to attend. But dun worry, i am confident my home school teacher, my wife, will be able to teach and groom Faustina.

Last weekend, 12 Jan, we went to Sentosa for a night stay and a sumptuous dinner at one of the Chinese restaurant, located near the Palawan Beach Foodcourt. The menu was so good that I really to have more servings...you know what they serve...Dishes include: Shark Fins, Buddha Jump over the Wall, Chill Crabs, Lobsters, and a few more, I could not recall. Guess what...Its a table that cost $1,000. Wah lau...in my whole life of 31 years, I have not tasted such an expensive table. Anyway, I did not pay as my friends paid. Yippee and hurray to them.

Going to Sentosa is definitely a short retreat for my family. So, we bring Fasutina to the Underwater World and dolphin Lagoon. This is my first visit to UW and my post feeling is that so so only. A small place but yet a lot of tourists heading to and don;y know why. Tickets are not cheap as $19.90 per person. As I am not the marine like guy, this trip is mainly for Faustina to experience underwater creatures.

Next is the dolplin lagoon. My perception for this place is well sheltered and has proper seating like an auditorium style. But to my surprise, the chairs, not seats, are inside a tentage while the sun is high up shining bright and hot. What a disappointment. The show was also a little boring and not so exciting. Aiya, never mind, as long as Faustina enjoyed it, we are ok.

That's all for the updates. Cheers to you all.

A Nice & Warm Chill out on 22 Dec

Remember the xmas gathering that i spoke abt in the last blog entry...the day had arrived and i indeed had a good memorable gathering....here are some of the highlights...

My gd friend, SF came to fetch me and my spouse to the gathering...That day was raining heavily and it was a sudden rain...thus delaying our arrival time at 6.00 pm. Nevertheless, with the gd driving skills and gd road directions sense, we arrived slightly late and still received a warm welcome from all my dear friends...

When our host (J) opened her door, alamak...only 3 of them inside...including me, my spouse, my kid, SF and his spouse, the total no. was 8!!!. Wat a great disappointment as our sec friends went to airport and gave us a plane. Wah lau. But never mind, with a great host and good company, the party still went on. Our xmas mood was not dampened.

We had a good meal, which consisted of sotong balls, black pepper chicken, popiah, sausages, bee hoon and ham. The host cooked bee hoon and the rest was bought off the shelve. I must admit that this meal was a little costly as the cost was initially shared by 12 pple but now, it got to share with 8 of us. Though it was costly, we really enjoyed it as there was great fun and laughter from us as we talked abt old days and school happenings...We oso played Tai Dee and it was indeed a good game. A lot of unwritten rules surfaced and a few arguments here and there but with all 5c, 10c and 20c views, and also from the Internet's expert opinion, the game was a well played.

Next, we ate the log cake, prepared by the host..a brand me and my spouse never eat and heard before: "Awfully chocolate". This shows that how ignorant i am. Ha ha. This cake was also intended for my spouse's birthday which happened to be on this actual day. We sang and took photographs for memories sake. Thanks pals..

Lastly, its the xmas gift exchange show. This year, the organiser (Sh) requested for presents that are above $18 in value...Why $18??? Later it was known that this secondary committee has been in existence for 18 years, since we know each other in Sec 1. Sentimental value right, i agree whole heartedly. Everyone exchanged gifts accordingly to the Organiser (Sh) plan and it went well smoothly. The party ended with everyone going home in a happy mood but for me, i even happier as the group played mj in my house.

Kudos to the host(J), my gd friend(SF), organiser(Sh) and the company of friends (D) on that day. Thanks for the hard work and effort. Maybe can start planning for this year (2008)...hmmm..

X'mas is drawing near....

Here comes another year and soon, its Xmas....Shall i look forward for another brighter year and it will still be just another year for me...many thoughts cross my mind....

A few months ago, i had some quarrels with my dad and that most "hated" person in my life "MOTHER". Its my fault for creating that unhappiness and i had apologised to my dad and atone for my mistakes. I actually damaged the door lock and since replaced a new one. That's not important, important is during the conversation with my dad, the latter said they will shift our by next year, after the Chinese New Year and then i can have the whole flat....My mind keeps thinking, is this real and will my very dream come true after next CNY?

I discuss with my wife and she said it could just be another "conversation" which has no meaning in it...that means to say...it will not be true. My dad could just say for the sake of saying and that cannot be taken to heart....Well, i just have to look positively and hope that my dream can come through...Hopefully by next year, we can have our own flat and welcome our friends to our warm little cosy shelter, and xin will have her own bedroom....by then, we can possibly plan for another kid....hee hee.

This xmas, we are having a xmas with my secondary school friends...its the first time and i am definitely looking forward to meet up old friends...A bit special for the exchange of gifts..a minimum of $18, which translates that our secondary school friend community has been around for 18 years and we have known each other for a solid 18 years. This xmas gathering happens to be my wife's birthday, 22 Dec, so my friends out there who have read this blog and are going for this X'mas gathering, please remember to bring a present for my wife.

For those who are reading this blog, i sincerely wish you all a merry xmas and a happy new year. Till now, take care. cheers to you all.

"Mommy" warms Amelia's heart

The day has finally arrived. Over these 25 over months, my daughter did not utter the word "Mommy" from her cute little mouth. Whatever she wants anything from my wife, she will always use sign language to express.

Never mind, this day has come and she says the word "mommy" and that has truely delighted my wife. My wife was so happy and since then, my daughter says "mommy" very well. This is so good as another word has been mastered by my daughter. Forgot to say, she is also well versed in a lot of words and can form short sentence to illustrate her stand. For instance, she will say " daddy, give xin drink milk", "daddy, play ball with xin", etc...this is so wonderful and so warm.

Ever since, my daughter is able to call "Mommy", my wife has increased her responsibilities...Hee hee. Now, whatever my daughter wants anything, the first person and first word that cross her mind is "MOMMY". Ha ha, "DADDY" seldom appears but will still be needed on occasions. Hee hee, my wife has to bath for her and even at times, drink medicine...
M wife, amelia, if you are reading this, thanks for yr hard work and I applause for your hard work and perservance.
